Artist Spotlight: Melissa Johnson

Melissa Johnson lives a dual life of working as a social media professional by day and an embroidery artist by night. From a young age she loved making creative pieces with her hands. Her Etsy shop called MCreativeJ, was started back in 2015 and offers a variety of handmade card, patches, pins, bandanas and embroidered art decor. Over the last last couple of months she’s slowly began incorporating La Croix inspired pieces into her shop.

What initially inspired you to make your La Croix inspired embroidery pieces?

La Croix embroideries are an offshoot of my beer terrarium embroidery series. I first started with Blue Moon and Rainier beer terrariums and have been adding various beers and suggested drink cans ever since. I love the bright colors of La Croix and they’re really fun to stitch.

How did you get introduced to La Croix?

La Croix is a staple in my office. We almost always have at least 3 flavors on hand.

What does live La Croix mean to you?

To me, La Croix is bright and bubbly. To live La Croix would mean to be adventurous and live colorfully.

What's your favorite La Croix drink and why?

I don’t have a favorite flavor of La Croix, however, I enjoy stitching Passionfruit, Mango, and Apricot because of the bright, punchy can colors.

Are La Croix inspired pieces now something you consistently make?

My La Croix terrarium embroideries have been very popular, ever since I added them to my can terrarium series. While I make other can terrariums, I often can’t keep La Croix’s in stock. I’ll continue making them as long as they’re something I continue to enjoy stitching.Because I’m a one woman maker, I usually make whatever strikes me as inspiring and is something I enjoy.
